Summary:
Darby is an early-stage healthtech startup focused on workflow automation for the durable medical equipment (DME) industry. Darby hired me to help find product-market fit and convert trials into customers.
Impact:
Product highlights:
Lead Product Designer — Democratic National Committee
2021 to 2023
Led design and user research for the DNC's national tech team
Civic tech
Solo designer
Summary:
The DNC tech team (75 technologists) built and maintained a portfolio of web and data tools that served the Biden For President campaign team, 200 state party data directors and analysts, and 40,000+ volunteers.
I supported 5 cross-functional product teams and reported to the Head of Product.
User Research highlight:
Established a comprehensive user research practice; defined 10 key user segments, trained and co-conducted discovery sessions with product managers, integrated the customer support team, overhauled the annual year-end survey, and conducted 50 stakeholder exit interviews after the 2022 midterms.
Voter Protection highlight:
Redesigned the voter protection platform through user research and prototyping, delivering a solution tested and deployed by Michigan and Wisconsin state parties for the 2022 midterms ahead of the general election.
Senior Product Designer — Huckleberry Insurance
2020 to 2021
Led end-to-end product design to digitize the small business insurance experience
Series A startup
Solo designer
Case study available
Summary:
Huckleberry was a Series A insurance startup that was acquired by Paychex. I operated as a design team of one and reported to the Head of Product.
Impact:
Spotlight:
The team needed to redesign the core top-of-funnel experience into a self service workflow. Instead of burning time on mockups and design reviews, I advocated for rapid-prototyping using Typeform to get cross-functional alignment, which drastically saved time for design, engineering, and the C-suite.
